Food Safety
Our Standards
As an esteemed member of the International Packaged Ice Association (IPIA) for generations, Long Island Ice & Fuel proudly upholds its commitment to food safety and the advancement of the ice industry. Our dedication goes beyond being a long-standing member, as our 4th, 5th, and 6th generations have actively participated in the IPIA’s leadership board and committees. Combined with our adherence to Packaged Ice Quality Control Standards (PIQCS), we ensure consumer protection and maintain the highest standards in the industry.
Our Commitment to Safe Food Practices
Long Island Ice & Fuel proudly upholds the highest standards of hygiene in ice manufacturing – certified annually by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and the Suffolk Department of Agriculture.
The Quality Control Process
Every year, Long Island Ice & Fuel vigorously ensures customer satisfaction and safety by undergoing extensive evaluations conducted by the NSF. Additionally, finished product monthly testing is carried out regularly from an external lab to guarantee both quality standards and consumer protection.
Step Inside Our World: Take A Tour of Our State-of-the-Art Facilities
Get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how we create our ice! We invite all current and prospective customers to take an in-person tour of our facilities so you can see the high-quality standards that go into producing every ice product for yourself.
For your safety, we recommend you limit your business to reputable ice suppliers who are registered, inspected, and members of the IPIA. It is especially important for caterers, restaurants, and other food service businesses to use IPIA-approved ice, as unsafe or uninspected ice can be a food safety liability. Only purchase ice from suppliers you can trust to store, handle, and transport ice properly. Your business and your customers depend on it!
